For the music marketing project there has been a lot of prior research done within my group, and on my own. When we first started our project, the first thing that we had to do was research our four case studies. We chose two record companies, Columbia Records and Universal Publishing Group. We then we chose two artists for each company. These four case studies required a lot of research to be done, but it also helped me learn about different marketing strategies. These artists work with many different types of people, where they can collaborate and develop products that represent their brand. Learning about all the types of things artists create to promote their brand helped for when we started coming up with a plan for our artist.
Once we finished our case studies, we chose our song and started working on our storyboard. Working on the storyboard was probably one of the harder things that we had to do in this project. We had a little trouble at first coming up with a solid idea of what we wanted our music video to represent. Once we decided that we wanted to create a story of a boy and girl with their love issues, it all went smoothly from there. We all gave ideas of how we thought we should film it, and what types of shots to include. After we finished the storyboard and had an idea of what we wanted it to look like, we began to film. The filming was fun to record and play a role in it. It took us a couple of times to make sure everyone wasn’t laughing in our shots, but we got everything we needed in the end.
The next day of filming my group went out, and I decided to stay back. I oversaw making our website for our artist. I was a little nervous at first because I had never done something like this before or used this type of site. I used a website to create my own website, and I have been having a lot of problems. I began to feel overwhelmed with the challenge that I had taken on, but I was determined to figure it out. So, I decided to switch websites and go to another one. The next one I found was so much easier to navigate. I finally felt calm again, and like I had everything under control. During the time we had, I created a website, a couple items of merchandise, and made sure to link his song and all social media accounts onto the website. When I has finished, I was so proud of myself for doing it. The result looked so professional, and I was surprised with how good it looked. Once my group felt happy with the website, we all began to take on our own tasks. One of my group members started to edit the shots we filmed, while the rest of us worked on the presentation. We all worked together to make the project the best it can be, and so that we loved the outcome.
